The University of Hawai’i Music Department and the UH Bands announce the Student Concerto & Composition Competition. Open to all UH current students enrolled in private study, the competition will take place in January. Winners will perform with the UH Wind Ensemble on their Aloha Concert in April.

General Qualifications
- Entrants must be a currently enrolled UH student at the time of both audition and performance
- Entrants must currently be enrolled in private lessons with a UH faculty member
Concerto Competition
- Entries for solo voice or wind, brass, percussion, or string instrument with published band or chamber winds accompaniment (Given our ongoing COVID pandemic response, works that can be performed with chamber winds accompaniment are encouraged)
- Work to be performed should be no more than 10 minutes in length. Cuts are acceptable; for concertos, single movements are acceptable and encouraged
- Auditions may be performed in person or online
- An audition accompanist is expected
Winners and Performance
- Winning entries will be announced by Tuesday, January 19, 2021
- The Concerto Competition Winner will rehearse & perform with the UH Wind Ensemble on the UH Bands Aloha Concert, Sunday, April 25, 2021 (location and online status TBA)
